I am too old to be governed by the fear of dumb people, good thing I live in a country governed by a representative democracy. That being said, I am also too young to to be governed by old peoples fears, fortunately for me I live in a country where there are more old people than young people. However, I am also lucky enough to understand that people change as well other things. Such as beliefs, religions, and ideologies. I believe that statement so much I’ll even call it a fact, especially the one about ideologies. I mean we can look through several decades and eras and you can see how the ideologies of the nation change.
In the late 1800’s through the early 1900’s you saw a shift to conservatism with a counter culture of secret liberalism, that lasted for the most part until 1933. Then in 1933 we saw a strongly democratic president take office for twelve years and he was followed by an equally strong democratic president. Then in mid 1940’s we saw a shift to the middle which lasted for a short while and in 1950 we saw a shift so far to the right, that people were being blacklisted for simply being accused of being a communist. Then in the 1960’s we saw the birth of modern liberalism we the inauguration of John F. Kennedy. Then after Johnson’s stint in office we saw a president take office who was slightly right of center but a counter culture that was far left of center. Finally we saw the birth of what was known as modern conservatism with Ronald Reagan taking office. Reagan’s predecessor was a man who held the same beliefs as he but he couldn’t hold the office for eight years. His predecessor was Bill Clinton who was for the most part a left of center president. He led the nation to a prosperous era. He was then followed by George W. Bush who had a hard time keeping the nations economy afloat while dealing with two wars. While the second Bush was in office you saw people go farther to their respective ideologies.
Now we have a president who is having a hard time getting things done for a number of reasons. Obstructionism, a full plate, growing daughters, and other things. Under his control we have seen the two main ideologies split so far apart we haven’t seen the country divided like this since the Civil War. With as much divisiveness as we’re seeing one can say we are absolutely left for dry, unless we figure out a way to fix our differences. The way I see it, everyone is stupid even the most brilliant people. You know why? Because we all believe we have the answers. When in reality all we have is our mouths open trying to drown every body else because we believe we know what’s best and every body else is an idiot. The sooner we stop thinking we’re geniuses and every one else less than us the sooner can get back to being a united nation that disagrees on a few things instead of a divided nation that doesn’t agree on diddly squat.
America’s economy has gaping wound in the middle of it’s chest and we have two parties arguing about how to deal with it. We have the republicans who have often said the numbers aren’t real and they are a lot worse than the president and his administration is letting on or a few republicans will say the economy doesn’t need a band aid but, they don’t offer any viable economic plans. On the other hand you have democrats who are little too band aid happy. The democrats provide a lot of short term economic plans but they haven’t provided any long term ideas. So the question a lot of people are asking themselves and their politicians is, “Do we just let the economy bleed out or do we dress the wound and apply pressure until we have a permanent cure?”
Politicians are making the economy a partisan thing but when has other peoples money, job, or livelihood been a partisan thing. We have people saying “No no no, we can’t worry about the poor people and we can’t raise taxes on the job Creators.” We tried that for about ten or eleven years now and look where it’s got us. We’ve shot our economy in the foot and we’re slowly pointing the gun higher and higher up our economic body. If we continue down this road we’re going to be shooting our economy in the head and America as a nation will be left for dead and our grandchildren and great grandchildren will spend their entire lifetimes trying to revive the American Economy.
We as private citizens need to write our representatives and tell them we want our government working for us and only us. We don’t care about corporate interests or money. We don’t care what you think are job creators because we took high school economics and understand that in a capitalistic society we the people are job creators. Their stories that wealthy people who send jobs overseas are job creators here in America is tired and old. We voted our representatives into office to do two things. 1) Represent us and our wishes, and 2) Protect our rights. Recently they have been protecting our rights but they haven’t been representing us or our wishes. Let’s tell our representatives like it is. We get them into that job and we can get them out of it. If we just remind them of that I’m pretty sure they’ll represent us more often.
There’s a new law in New York that is absolutely ridiculous and should not have ever been thought of. It’s a law that polices political correctness. The law forces test makers in New York to leave out words like Birthday or Dinosaur so not to offend any one group of individuals. The law restricts words that people use every day and there’s really no way to avoid the use of them especially when the New York prohibit the use of fifty commonly used words. The list is comprehensive and ranges from words like birthday to abuse. Why would a word like abuse be on a standardized test. I can only imagine that question, “There are five children. Two of them are abused but four of them have bruises. How many children have bruises?”
The premise is somewhat reasonable. The law makers in New York want to protect children from being hurt or possibly being accidentally made to relive something horrible that happened in the past. This goes over the line of necessary protection though. If they don’t want to offend any one then have the test makers make sure they create the tests with questions that wont be perceived as offensive rather than cutting out the use of certain words that possibly, but most likely won’t, offend some people. This law is a perfect example of A) political correctness going way too far and B) government over stepping their boundaries even if they have the best intentions in mind.
There’s another problem with this law. If they tell test makers not to use words like slaves or poverty on tests how can you teach kids about things like Pre- Civil War America or America during the Great Depression. This law is contradictory and will leave kids in catastrophic idiocy, which will lead to higher rates of poverty. Wait I’m not sure if I can use that word some one might be offended. These are words that can not and must not be avoided. To keep kids from seeing these words is only going to make it tougher for them when they grow up and deal with this stuff on a regular basis.
It’s absolutely ignorant to believe that if we don’t talk about something then it doesn’t exist. Ignorance isn’t a good thing and it never has been so why do Americans continue to hide things from children or from regular Americans. We as a nation don’t need to be coddled or held close. We need to have veil removed from our eyes and examine and take everything for what it is rather than for what we want it to be. We all need to grow up and be more mature and stop being so willfully ignorant because the longer we accept the ignorance the longer we will be in the dark being controlled like puppets by some creepy puppeteer.
And I know I kind of sounded like a conspiracy theorist in this post and I don’t really like sounding that way.

With Syria, a mostly Muslim country, being engulfed in turmoil over this past week end a lot of people were quick to bash Muslims again. People were dropping the usual harassing statements, like “towel heads”, or just any other offensive term for Muslims. Some people called Islam a hateful and backwards religion, stating “Mohammed raped nine year old little girls and ‘Allah’ allowed him to do it.”, unbeknownst to those people Allah is the same God as the Christian and Jewish God, those are the three Abrahamic religions. One woman also wrote one of the most outlandish statements I have ever read. She wrote, ” Of all the loons in the world, Muslims have to be the looniest”, as if some how all Muslims are grouped together and have the same brain.
What I think is funny, is all these self righteous Christians claim that all Muslims are evil and that no Muslim should be allowed to live in America. Self righteous Christians chastise all Muslims as if all Muslims are tied to terrorist groups and all Muslims condone acts of terror against America. Which is stupid for two reasons. One, America has the largest population of Muslims outside of the middle east. Two, if we’re going to blame all Muslims for the acts of a small group of Muslims then we should treat all religions the same. So that means we should treat all Christians terribly because of the things a few Christians did in the past.
What horrible things have Christians done that beckon for them to be treated the same way people treat Muslims? Try Timothy McVeigh, who bombed Oklahoma City to avenge what had happened at Waco and Ruby Ridge, and also drew inspiration from Focus On the Family’s founder, James Dobson. Did you forget about Peoples Temple founder Jim Jones and what he did? Jim Jones brutally beat young children in front of his congregation, often used methamphetamines, and lastly he led a mass suicide that left 909 people dead including 303 children. Then you got the Branch Davidians led by David Koresh. The Branch Davidians are the group that were apart of the Waco Siege. The Waco siege ultimately led to almost all of the Branch Davidians being killed. Then there are just so many other Christian groups that do horrible thing, there’s too many of them to write down in one post.
So do you see what I mean? If we blame every body who practices a religion for the actions of a fringe group we’d all be blamed for some thing we didn’t do. The discriminatory statements I showed you earlier in this article are just a few of the statements out there. And the discrimination will continue until we teach tolerance to the intolerant.
Tonight President Obama delivered his annual State of the Union speech. It was an hour and five minutes long. His speech covered many topics but all topics were pertinent to getting America out of this recession, getting Americans back to work, and getting the congress and senate to work together. It was a rather good speech , I would say it was his best speech since running for the presidency.
Obama stated the armed forces cooperation was an example that all Americans should follow. He covered how if we want to get back to being the best America we can be we’ll have to work together and quit the bickering and fighting. I believe giving credit to where it was due and setting out goals to get where we need to get was a focal point of the presidents.
On top of asking Americans to unite, Obama also stated everything he did. He wasn’t necessarily boasting but he was letting all of his critics know what he has done in his first. He told Americans he has less regulations than the Bush Administration. He made it known that HE and seal team 6 got Osama Bin Laden and almost every high ranking Al Qaeda member. He also added three million jobs.
He also talked about everything he wanted to get done. He told Americans and American business owners he wanted to reward American businesses who hired in the United States. Also, he said he would a minimum tax for all businesses and businesses who out sourced jobs would pay more taxes. And to keep scientific and high technological jobs in America he would give incentives to businesses who funded college programs and hired people like Jackie Bray.
On the lighter side of the State of the Union President Obama shared a long and heart felt embrace with Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. And college students and younger people part of the workforce may be calling in to work sick and missing class. See there’s a new drinking game for the State of the Union and according to the rules some people may have gotten hammered tonight.
Recently a video was found on youtube with Marines urinating on the bodies of fallen Taliban soldiers. The acts of the individuals, in my mind, were reprehensible. I mean, yea what the Taliban has done is egregious and terrible for society but, how do the actions of these marines reflect upon all Americans.
People tried to justify the acts of by saying the Taliban beheaded people and the 9/11 attacks. To me the acts of the Taliban are just as reprehensible, even more so, but, those were American Marines who defiled the dead. It matters what the Taliban did but, it also matters what Americans do. Americans are supposed to be the best and better than every one else. The acts of these marines show how far from the Great America we have fallen. But that doesn’t matter because the Taliban soldiers “deserved” to urinated.
From here on out groups like the Taliban and Al Qaeda will have something to fuel people like them into becoming more extreme and possibly even terrorists. This video did more harm than good and if anything it has endangered the life’s of many more Americans. People don’t think about that aspect though. They only think of the Taliban as a group they hate so anything wrong done towards them is right even if it endangers peoples life’s. Is a world where wrong doings can be justified by the hate felt towards a group a world really want to live in?
